Elusive Exotic States

چکیده

The existence of flavor exotic QQq̄q̄ molecular-type states is investigated. An attractive force between two pseudoscalar H = (Qq̄) heavy meson is generated by (correlated) two-pion exchange. The emergence of a (loosely) bound state depends crucially on the value of the coupling constant g of the H∗Hπ vertex. For a g value calculated from the experimental upper limit on the width of the D∗ meson the considered mechanism alone is strong enough to generate a bound state in the BB system while the DD system is very close to become bound. Such states, if exist, are stable with respect to strong interactions. They may be observed as stable scalar particles with the mass M ≈ 2mH and flavor quantum number ±2. ∗e-mail address: [email protected] †e-mail address: [email protected]

Imaging Anyons with Scanning Tunneling Microscopy

Anyons are exotic quasiparticles with fractional charge that can emerge as fundamental excitations of strongly interacting topological quantum phases of matter. Unlike ordinary fermions and bosons, they may obey non-Abelian statistics—a property that would help realize fault-tolerant quantum computation. NonAbelian anyons have long been predicted to occur in the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) ph...

On the Exotic Hard X-ray Source Populations in the Hellas2XMM survey

Recent hard X-ray surveys have proven to be effective in discovering large numbers of X-ray sources that, despite the likely association with active nuclei, appear to be characterized by “peculiar” properties. Among these “exotic” source populations, we will focus on the nature of two classes of hard X-ray sources: those characterized by high X-ray-to-optical flux ratios – a fraction of these a...

A review of the biological characteristics of ornamental and exotic giant snakeheadexotic, Channa micropeltes (Cuvier, 1831), reported from Anzali Wetland

The present work was conducted to study the biological characteristics of giant snakehead, Channa micropeltes, a popular ornamental species in the world. This species is native to Southeast Asia and also is distributed in Thailand, Laos (Mekong Basin), Vietnam, Malaysia, Sumatra (Bangka and Belitung Islands), Kalimantan and northern Java. Among the environmental characteristics, vegetation play...

Exotic baryon states in topological soliton models

The novel observation of an exotic strangeness S = +1 baryon state at 1.54 GeV will trigger an intensified search for this and other baryons with exotic quantum numbers. This state was predicted long ago in topological soliton models. We use this approach together with the new datum in order to investigate its implications for the baryon spectrum. In particular we estimate the positions of othe...

Exotic Hadronic States at Hera

The hadronic states studied in hadron spectroscopy have been successfully explained by quark-antiquark states (mesons) or three quark states (baryons). States whose quantum numbers could be understood in terms of more complex quark structures were up to now not observed. Such exotic states were already proposed on the basis of quark and bag models [1] in the early days of QCD, with the hope tha...
